Welcome Address from Vice Chancellor, Benue State University

I heartily welcome both the Staff and students to campus following the suspension of the industrial action which was embarked upon by Unions in the University since April, 2017.

I salute all of us for the maturity with which we handled the issues that led to the strike.

On behalf of Management, I assure all staff that no one shall be victimized as a result of the industrial action. Colleagues should also let go all the hate speeches and attacks on social media and even physical confrontations in the course of the strike action. Now that the strike has been suspended and academic activities resumed, I implore all of us to come together as one family towards growth and development of the University.

To my esteemed students, please note that cultism and all forms of social vices are not tolerated in the Benue State University. You must, therefore, shun them. For the fresh students, please be informed that there are approved social clubs, associations and organizations in the University to which you may seek membership if so desired. Interested students who wish to take advantage of the existence of these social clubs are advised to contact the Students Affairs Division for guidance.

I urge Heads of Departments/Deans of Faculties to ensure that students pay their school fees as only those that have paid their school fees would be allowed to take their lectures and/or examinations.

May God continue to bless us all, and the Benue State University, Makurdi.

Prof. Msugh Moses Kembe
Vice-Chancellor
